How to find bugs before your users do
Most bugs users find are not hard to find. Nobody used the new build the way a user would before it shipped. Here is a routine that catches them first, in minutes, on every change.
How do I find bugs before my users do?
Use the build the way users will, before they do: on the preview deployment, try the main tasks as a newcomer, on a phone and a laptop, and watch the browser console and network for errors. Mimiq does this with AI agents: each acts as a different user in a real browser, and the report lists what broke, which requests failed or were slow, and where agents got stuck.
Where shipped bugs come from
The change worked on the developer's machine, with the developer's account, on the path the developer had in mind. Users arrive with an empty account, on a phone, from a link in an email, and type things the developer never typed. The bugs live in that gap.
- Test the preview, not localhost: real hosting, real config.
- Start from where users start: the signup or the landing page.
- Vary the user: phone and laptop, careful and hasty.
- Watch the browser, not just the screen: errors and failed requests.
- Fix what most people hit first, then run again.
How it works
- 01
Deploy a preview
Vercel, Netlify and Cloudflare Pages make one for every branch. Test that address, because it runs the real build with real environment variables.
- 02
Write down the three tasks that matter
Usually: sign up and reach the first useful screen, do the core job once, and pay or upgrade. Phrase each the way a user would say it.
- 03
Send agents through each task
Paste the preview and a task into Mimiq, or let the GitHub Action do it on every deploy. 5 agents take about 5 to 15 minutes.
- 04
Read the browser records first
A 500 from your signup endpoint or a JavaScript error on a button is a bug with a stack trace waiting. Then read where agents got stuck and why: those are the bugs no log shows.
- 05
Fix, then rerun the same agents
Run the same agents on the fixed build and check the problem is gone for everyone who hit it.
The bugs this catches
Broken: a request that fails or answers 500, a button whose click handler throws, a redirect loop, a verification email that never arrives. Slow: an API call that takes 4 seconds on the first load. Confusing: a field that rejects valid input with no explanation, a step whose button is off screen on a phone, wording that sends people to the wrong page.
Mimiq reports all three kinds, the first two from the browser's own records and the third from the agents' steps and words.
What it does not catch
Agents are simulated users. They find problems fast and on every build; they do not forecast how many real people will convert, they are not a deterministic regression suite, and they do not install native mobile apps.
Load problems that only appear with thousands of users, and data bugs that need months of history, need other tools.
Questions
Why not just test it myself?
Do that too. But you know where every button is, and you test the path you built. Agents arrive like newcomers and take paths you did not plan.
Does it work for apps built with Lovable or Bolt?
Yes, anything with a public address. See the pages for Lovable, Bolt, v0, Replit and Base44.
What does it cost?
Your first test is free with a free account: sign in with Google and it starts right away, no card. The account includes 50 credits, enough for 10 agents. After that an agent uses 5 credits, and then it is a $9 Starter (120 credits that never expire) or monthly plans from $19.
