Test Netlify deploy previews with AI agents

Netlify builds a deploy preview for every pull request. Mimiq sends agents through it and comments with what they hit, so the preview gets used before you merge.

How do I test Netlify deploy previews automatically?

Netlify reports finished deploy previews to GitHub as deployment_status events. Add the Mimiq preview check GitHub Action: when a preview is ready, AI agents use it in real browsers and one pull request comment shows what broke, which requests failed or were slow, and where agents got stuck. Password-protected previews work with basic auth.

Previews are built, then ignored

The deploy preview runs your real build with real redirects, functions and environment variables, the exact things that differ from localhost. It is the best place to catch a broken form or a function that fails on Netlify, and the least used.

  • Triggers on Netlify's deployment_status event.
  • Password-protected previews: basic-auth inputs.
  • Catches failing Netlify Functions as failed requests.
  • One pull request comment, updated on each push.

How it works

  1. 01

    Create a Mimiq key

Free account, Settings, "Create a key". Save it as MIMIQ_API_KEY in the repository.

  2. 02

    Add the workflow

Below. If your previews ask for a password, add basic-auth-username and basic-auth-password.

  3. 03

    Open a pull request

The comment appears when the preview is live.

The workflow

The same Action as for Vercel; it reads the preview URL from the event:

on: deployment_status
permissions:
  pull-requests: write
jobs:
  mimiq:
    if: github.event.deployment_status.state == 'success'
    runs-on: ubuntu-latest
    steps:
      - uses: victorgulchenko/mimiq-preview-check@v1
        with:
          api-key: ${{ secrets.MIMIQ_API_KEY }}
goal: Sign up and reach the dashboard
          people: 3

Without GitHub

Paste the deploy preview URL into the app, or call the MCP endpoint from Netlify build plugins or any CI.

curl -s https://mcp.mimiqai.com/mcp \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Accept: application/json, text/event-stream" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $MIMIQ_API_KEY" \
  -d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"mimiq.test_flow","arguments":{"url":"'"$PREVIEW_URL"'","goal":"Sign up and start using it","count":3}}}'
40steps at most for each agent, each in its own real browser. Every step comes with a screenshot and what the agent was thinking at the time.
20agents at once, each acting as a different one of your users. The browser also records every error, failed request and request slower than 3 seconds on your site, on the step it happened. Agents find problems; they do not forecast how many people will convert.
$0for your first test, with a free account (Google sign-in, no card). It includes 50 credits, enough for 10 agents. After that an agent uses 5 credits, and packs start at $9 for 120 credits.

Questions

Does it work with Netlify Identity?

Agents sign up as new users with their own inboxes, so a signup flow works. For pages behind your own account, add a test account under Access (paid credits).

What does it cost?

5 credits an agent per run. a $9 Starter (120 credits that never expire) or monthly plans from $19.
