Vet clinic booking system: the new pet form
A new owner has a puppy, a shelter card and no microchip number to hand. Mimiq sends simulated owners through your appointment form and shows the field where each one stopped.
Why do new pet owners stop before they book a vet visit online?
New owners stop at the intake form when it asks for records they do not have yet, such as a microchip number or the date of the last vaccine. A form that also hides the route for an urgent problem sends an anxious owner to a routine slot that may be days away. A simulated test books a first visit the way a new owner would, and shows the field or routing choice where the run stopped.
What this looks like in a report
“The shelter gave me a card with the vaccines but not a microchip number, and it says required. I don't have anything with me. Do I cancel? Can I still book the visit and bring the card?”
The fix. Make the microchip number and the previous vet optional for a new pet, with a line saying the clinic reads old records at the visit. Move 'new pet or first visit' to the top of the reason list, above the routine checks.

The intake form asks for records a new owner does not have
A new owner who has just adopted a puppy may have a shelter card with the vaccine dates, a name on a leaflet and no other paperwork. The booking form asks for a microchip number, the previous vet's name and the date of the last vaccine, all marked required. The owner cannot answer them and cannot leave them blank. So they stop, or they type a guess, or they phone. Nothing on the screen says the clinic can take the records at the visit. The clinic knows that, and the form does not say it.
- For a new puppy, can you book without a microchip number?
- Does the form say the clinic can take old records at the visit?
- Does the reason list include a new pet or a first visit, or only checks and vaccines?
- Is there a line for urgent symptoms that tells the owner to phone the clinic?
- Can a second pet be added to the same booking, or does it need another form?
What a new owner sees, from the first screen to the pet form
A new owner usually searches on a phone, often in the car with the animal on the seat. The first screen asks for an appointment type from a list the clinic wrote for itself, often headed by vaccines, dental work and routine checks. A puppy visit may sit under other. The next screen asks for the owner's details, and then the pet's details, where most of the required fields are. Count the screens until the pet form and read its required fields in order. The owner is deciding whether to continue, and a field they cannot answer is the easiest reason to stop.
Urgent symptoms and the routine calendar
A booking form is the wrong place for an emergency, and a good clinic page says so. Where it does not, an owner with a sick animal fills in the routine form, picks the first open slot, and waits for a visit that is needed sooner. Check the first screen for one line that says what to do if the animal is not eating, is in pain or is struggling to breathe, and where to phone. Then compare the earliest slot the form offers for a sick pet with the earliest for a routine visit. If the sick pet's slot is later, the routing runs backwards, and the calendar is the problem.
Two pets, two forms
An owner with a cat and a new puppy meets the form twice, and the second booking asks the same pet questions again. Book two animals for one owner in the same run, and see whether the form offers a combined visit, a second pet field or only a restart. Check that the reminder email names each pet, so an owner does not hear about one visit and miss the other. The test shows the choice the form forces. It does not show whether the clinic can see two animals in one slot.
What you get with Mimiq
- 01
Run it by hand, or on every pull request
Paste a link and a task in the app and watch the visitors work. Or run them on every preview deploy: the GitHub Action comments on the pull request, any other CI can call the MCP endpoint, and your coding agent can run it too.
- 02
Bugs and usability problems in one report
The browser records errors and failed or slow requests on the step they happened. The visitors say where the wording or the steps confused them, and where they left.
- 03
Visitors that behave like your audience
Each visitor is a different profile with a reason to be there, matched to who the page is for, described by you, or built from your own customers.
- 04
A prompt to fix each problem
Every problem comes with a fix to paste into Cursor, Claude Code, Lovable or any coding agent, and one prompt hands over the top problems at once. Then send the same visitors through again.
- 05
Follow every visitor
See each visitor's whole path, step by step with screenshots, and what it was thinking at every step. Ask any visitor a question.
The browser records relevant JavaScript errors and failed or slow app requests encountered during the run, attached to the step where they occurred. The visitors are simulated: they find problems, they do not predict how many real people will convert.
A seasonal vaccine clinic can push the new pet option off the reason list
The first run finds the field or the routing choice. The fix moves an option, makes a field optional, or adds a line about urgent problems, and a later change to the reason list or the pet form can move it back. Send a new puppy owner through after each change, then a sick cat owner, to confirm an urgent visit does not land in the routine calendar. Repeat it before a busy vaccine season.

Questions
Can this tell me how many new owners will book a first visit?
No. It does not predict how many new owners will book, and it cannot say how many of them phone instead. It shows the field, reason option or routing choice where a simulated owner stopped. Booking numbers come from your practice management reports and your phone log.
Can a simulated owner confirm a visit?
The test goes as far as the last step an owner can reach. Visitors have an email inbox, so a confirmation email reaches them. They cannot receive a text reminder or a text code, so a booking that needs one stops there, and the report says which step it was.
Should I use a real animal's medical records in a test?
No. Use an invented pet, an invented owner and a test email inbox. Screenshots in the report show what the visitor typed, so keep medical records, microchip numbers and owner details out of the run. A run needs only what an owner would type.
Does the test check whether a sick pet gets seen in time?
No. The test shows whether an owner can find the right kind of appointment and see its earliest slot. It cannot judge a clinic's triage, staffing or how fast an animal gets care. An owner with an emergency should phone the clinic, whatever the booking form shows.
