RV rental booking: the fee that appears late
A couple planning a long weekend wants to know whether they can drive the RV and what it will cost. Find the screen where the answer changes after they have committed.
Why does an RV rental cost more at the end than at the start?
The search price usually covers the vehicle for a set number of days from one place. A one-way drop-off, a young driver fee, extra bedding, a generator charge or a security deposit can be added on later screens. A simulated test runs the booking from search to the summary on a phone and reads the total at each step, so you can see where the price moves.
What this looks like in a report
“The vehicle page showed one weekend price. The summary now adds a one-way fee and a young driver charge. I am not sure I am allowed to drive it, so I will go elsewhere.”
The fix. Show the minimum driver age and any young driver fee on the search results, and name the one-way drop-off fee beside the drop-off city. Make the summary total match the vehicle page for the same trip, and list the deposit and mileage limit before the card step.

The first question is whether they can drive it
A renter's first question is not the price. It is whether they are allowed to drive the vehicle at all, and many RV forms ask that late. A minimum driver age, a license held for a set period, or a rule about towing can sit behind the search results. The renter fills in the trip, chooses a vehicle, and only then meets the age question. If they are below the age, the form may refuse at the last step, or accept them and add a young driver fee to the total. Either way, the price they were quoted stops being the price they pay.
- Does the search page state the minimum driver age and any fee for a young driver?
- Is the one-way drop-off fee shown before the renter picks a drop-off city?
- Does the summary total match the vehicle page total for the same trip?
- Are the mileage limit and generator hours stated before the card step, not only in the terms?
- Does the deposit amount show before the renter reaches the card step?
Who the form lets drive
Driver rules are the first gate in an RV booking, and they are easy to hide. The form may ask the renter's age after the dates and the vehicle, or ask whether a second driver is needed without saying what that costs. A renter who holds a license but has held it for less time than the rental company requires finds out only at the end. The right version states the age and license rule on the search page, names the fee for a younger driver, and says in one line who may drive. Read the first screen as a renter who is not sure of their own eligibility, and see whether the answer is there.
One-way fees, add-ons and the total
A one-way trip picks up in one place and returns in another, and the fee for that usually depends on the drop-off city. The fee often appears only after the renter has chosen that city, so the total they saw on the search page no longer holds. Bedding packs, outdoor kits and generator use add to the total in the same way, each on its own screen. Pick a drop-off in another city in your own system, then compare the total on the vehicle page, the add-ons page and the summary. A number that moves with every choice is the problem, even when each charge is correct on its own.
Deposits, mileage and the step the test cannot finish
Generator hours, a mileage cap and the fuel and waste tank rules often sit in the terms, not on the vehicle page, so a renter may first read them at the card step. The deposit works the same way. Its amount and the date it is released are easy to miss. The run follows the pages up to the payment step, because a visitor cannot pay with a real card. If a step asks for a photo of a driving license or a passport, a visitor has no real document to send, so expect the run to stop there. Check that step by hand, with your own documents, on your own phone.
What you get with Mimiq
- 01
Run it by hand, or on every pull request
Paste a link and a task in the app and watch the visitors work. Or run them on every preview deploy: the GitHub Action comments on the pull request, any other CI can call the MCP endpoint, and your coding agent can run it too.
- 02
Bugs and usability problems in one report
The browser records errors and failed or slow requests on the step they happened. The visitors say where the wording or the steps confused them, and where they left.
- 03
Visitors that behave like your audience
Each visitor is a different profile with a reason to be there, matched to who the page is for, described by you, or built from your own customers.
- 04
A prompt to fix each problem
Every problem comes with a fix to paste into Cursor, Claude Code, Lovable or any coding agent, and one prompt hands over the top problems at once. Then send the same visitors through again.
- 05
Follow every visitor
See each visitor's whole path, step by step with screenshots, and what it was thinking at every step. Ask any visitor a question.
The browser records relevant JavaScript errors and failed or slow app requests encountered during the run, attached to the step where they occurred. The visitors are simulated: they find problems, they do not predict how many real people will convert.
A new drop-off fee or driver age rule can change the total again
The first run finds the screen where the total moved. The fix moves the driver age and the drop-off fee to the search results and makes the summary match the vehicle page. Run the same renter again with a one-way trip and check the total on each screen. Repeat it after you add a drop-off city, change the minimum driver age or update the deposit, since each one can add a charge the renter did not expect.

Questions
Will the test tell me how many renters will book?
No. Mimiq does not predict bookings, rental days or revenue, and it cannot forecast how many renters will reach payment. It shows the screen where a simulated renter saw a price change, and the figures on that screen. For bookings and revenue, use your reservation and accounting reports.
Can a simulated renter pay the deposit?
No. A deposit that needs a real card stops the run at the payment step, because a visitor cannot pay with a real card. Use the test to read the deposit amount and its wording before that step. Check the card step yourself, with your own card in your own test mode, once the figures match.
Does the test check my insurance and damage terms?
No. The test shows whether a renter can find the insurance and damage terms, and what they say on the screen. It does not review the terms, the cover or the rules that apply to your fleet. Get that review from the person who owns your rental terms, and use the test to see the terms as renters meet them.
Should I put a real renter's license into a test?
No. Use made-up names, dates and license details, and never type a real renter's license or passport number into a run. A test does not check your rental records against identity or privacy rules, so keep real renter records out of it entirely.
Can the test find out whether a vehicle is out of service?
It can show that a renter sees a vehicle as unavailable, and what the page says about it. It cannot tell you why the vehicle is out of service or when it returns to the fleet. Keep that in your fleet system, and make the page say so in words.
